The characters are the heroes of the game Hollow knight.

One of the rejected Vessels, beings whose best would contain the source of the Plague that plagued Hallownest. Within the Vessel's shell is the Void. Like the other Vessels, the Knight is genderless. The Pure Vessel, also known as the Hollow Knight, was chosen, and the Void was sealed, causing the Knight, who was near the top of the Void, to fall back down. And although the exit was closed. The Knight wandered the wastelands outside of Hallownest, and only made his way to the now-ruined kingdom when Radiance let out her cry from the Hollow Knight, as did the other Vessels, whose corpses are seen throughout the game. The Vessels that come to Hallownest intend to become the new host for the Plague, containing Radiance, the source of the contagion, within themselves, for the old Hollow Knight can no longer successfully contain the vengeful goddess. Walking the wastelands has affected the Knight's essence: his resilience is born from two voids: one is the Void itself, from which the Vessels are created, and the other is an effect of staying in the wastelands for too long. It is unclear why the wastelands would affect the Knight at all: the warning in Howling Cliffs that the beetle would lose its mind outside of Hallownest, however, applied to the subjects of the King, who had been granted minds by him, so as children of the monarch, the Knight and his brethren should not have lost their minds so easily. The Knight feels no emotion, or at least none that others notice. And while the Knight has no voice, and perhaps no mind due to the Void and the wastelands, he does have a will. Hornet notes that the Knight could cope with Hallownest's past if he had the will. Thus, by the Pale King's standards, the protagonist would not be "pure". However, as most endings show us, it is through will that the Knight manages to deal with Radiance forever. However, he only deals with it if he has the Heart of Emptiness with him. For Hornet, he is a younger brother.

Hornet is the protector of the ruins of Hallownest, guarding the lands from intruders. Unlike most of the kingdom's inhabitants, who wield a nail or their claws, Hornet uses a needle and thread in combat. She is the biological daughter of Herrah the Beast and the Pale King: the monarch needed the third Seal to imprison the Hollow Knight, and the Beast agreed to become a Dreamer only after he gave her a child. Mother and daughter spent little time together, the princess being raised by weavers in their Lair. Since Hornet and the Vessels share the same father, they are in some way related. Like Quirrel, Hornet senses that the Scourge is beginning to gain new strength in the kingdom, and now the Vessels who were cast into the Abyss and managed to escape from it will return to Hallownest to replace their brother. Hornet not only protects the Dreamers, but also the key to the sealed Abyss - the King's Brand. Hornet has a wide range of attacks: Jumps high and rushes towards the character; Dashes towards the character in an attempt to deal contact damage; Throws his needle across the arena at the character. It is worth noting that the needle can be hit from above, thereby bouncing off it; Jumps up and waves a thread around itself for a few seconds. Body: black. Head: white, with two eye holes and two long horns. Clothing: a red cloak that covers the body from the neck to the feet. Arms: Rarely visible under the cloak, as black as the legs. She is an older sister to the Knight.
