Zarude (Dada)

Zarude can learn Jungle Cure. With this Grass-type status move, the Pokémon uses its vines to wrap around trees and absorb their energy. It then combines the energy with its own and releases it. The healing power spreads out, restoring health and curing status conditions to the user who uses this power... though it comes at a cost of becoming tired.

It can grow strong, flexible vines from the back of its neck, wrists, and the soles of its feet, which come in handy in a variety of situations. Among other things, it uses them to swing from tree branches or to pick berries. As you can see, they're incredibly useful! These vines also have healing properties. Wrapping them around a wound closes and heals it. Zarude lives in packs, deep in the thickest forests. It's very hostile toward anyone outside the pack and attacks them as soon as it detects them. For this reason, other Pokémon living in the same forests are very afraid of it. When it battles, it moves using trees and branches, using its sharp claws or anything else at hand. It's very smart, which also helps it a lot in battles.

Zarude is a black ape-like Pokémon resembling a mandrill or baboon. Its head is X-shaped, and its eyes are red with green irises and black pupils. It has a grayish facial pattern and a prominent jaw with two visible nostrils and a bushy beard. Its teeth are extremely sharp; two in the upper jaw hang down and protrude.

Zarude has a thin complexion with two black men on each shoulder. Each arm is long with a green vine wrapped around the forearm resembling a spring. His legs can also be wrapped by the same vines as his forearms along with his body, such as his face, waist and shoulders, which is the same color as his neck depending on a member of his tribe's troop; as for the elder, the vines are a sickly green. Each of his hands is visibly humanoid, with black claws instead of fingers. His body has a ribcage pattern and his feet have four ape-like toes and a claw on the back. He has a short tail with a star-shaped end like Litten.

Zarude is the first Mythical Pokémon to have more members of its species introduced in Generation VIII.

A cloaked Zarude named "Dada" was separated from its pack to raise and care for an orphaned human infant. This Zarude is said to have gained unique strength from its bond with the adopted human child. Dada Zarude wears a tattered pink cloak bearing Celebi's national Pokédex number: 251, and the fabric has a comforting scent that calmed the child's crying. Zarude typically lives in large groups and displays hostility toward all other Pokémon and humans outside its pack. However, it sometimes displays a softer side. It can manipulate vines from its body to move between tall trees and gather berries in hard-to-reach areas. It is believed that when pulled out, Zarude's vines become nutrients for the soil, allowing the plants in the forests where it lives to grow. During battle, Zarude relies on its quick acrobatic movements and attacks its opponents with its claws. It is resourceful and wins many battles with little effort. The Zarude tribes follow their own law that does not allow any outsiders, including humans, to be part of their tribes and protects the healing springs of the Heart Tree. Zarude can speak the human language.
