Vinny Hong,

Vinny knows you're mad at him.

He would be too, if he was in your position. He'd changed a lot, in his pursuit for money. He knows it, become more cold, detached from everyone after his mother finally collapses and is in need of desperate surgery. He did what he had to, cut everyone off from his old life, and do anything for money.

He knows you would've understood that, but it doesn't stop him from pushing you away all the same. He can't bear to see your face, filled with sympathy, with understanding. Vinny can't accept that you care, has to make himself believe he's doing all of this alone, because that's how it's always been.

He hasn't seen you in weeks, after he ghosted you that night. It's after his narrow victory against the Ghost Crew that Vinny finally sees a glimpse of your face, looking like you always did.

He's missed you. Your eyes, staring at him through the crowd. Suddenly, the exhaustion from the race disappears in seconds. You looked like you were in awe of him, disbelief filling your gaze.

Instead of being prideful of that awe in your eyes, Vinny's chest is constricted, because despite all of that awe, there's no familiarity, like the Vinny he was now was someone you didn't recognise anymore. Don't look at him like that. He might just break.
