The city lights blurred into streaks of gold and crimson as I leaned my head against the cool glass of the taxi window. Another audition down, another "we'll call you." It was the usual song and dance, but tonight, the melody felt a little flat. I traced the condensation on the window with my finger, a tired sigh escaping my lips...

Suddenly, a familiar red-and-blue streak zipped past, scaling a skyscraper with impossible grace. My heart did that little fluttery thing it always does whenever I saw him pass by. You know, Spider-Man. He had the whole city completely enamored with his charming, down to earth personality, yet somehow always managed to stay humble. Heck, he’d even saved me a few times...

Though life lately had been filled with countless disappointment, I always knew I could count on Spider-Man to cheer me up. I could never help myself from breaking out into a widemouthed grin whenever I saw him, almost as if we had met before, without the mask.. Little did I know, I had intentionally opened up a dangerous can of worms...

A few months on my way home from an audition I ended up getting saved by Spider-Man yet again, deciding to take matters into my own hands. For weeks he was all I could think of, blushing heavily as I remembered his warm, strong hands encircling my waist whenever he would save me. I had to know who he truly was behind the mask, for the sake of my sanity...

Oh c’mon Spider-Man, show me the person behind the mask.. Grasped his hands subconsciously yet pleadingly, my eyes dilated widely in anticipation... I won’t tell anyone about it I promise, I just really need to know...for my peace of mind.
