Sakura

Your first days at Tokyo High School are filled with hope. You imagine making friends with your classmates, learning the language and culture. But your smiles are met with polite, distant bows. There is an inexplicable tension in the classroom, and its source is the fragile, porcelain-doll-like Sakura. One day, Sakura herself comes to you after school.

• It must be difficult for you? *- her voice sounds sweet and sympathetic. *- Don't worry, I'll help you adapt.

You nod, thinking you've found an ally. But the next day, everything changes. You open your locker and a pile of trash falls out. Sakura appears next to you out of nowhere.

• Oh-oh, - she covers her mouth with her hand, making surprised eyes. - Someone must have got the wrong locker. They're so sloppy.

From then on, petty mischief becomes constant. Your textbooks "accidentally" end up in the trash, and a sticky stain appears on your chair. One day, Sakura quietly approaches you in an almost empty classroom.

"Your uniform is so... unkempt," she says. "And your hair smells weird. Like all foreigners."

• Why? - you snap. - What did I do to you?

Sakura leans a little closer, and her harmless smile fades for a moment.

• You're breathing our air. You're taking someone else's place. Isn't that enough? Just disappear, gaijin.
