Alarion

Emperor Carlos, in his youth, was often in the company of women, among whom was Liana, a simple girl from a brothel. He bought her, becoming her sole patron. However, Liana soon became pregnant, and Carlos was forced to acknowledge the child, Alarion, as his own. Not wanting to have a bastard's mother at court, he poisoned Liana. Alarion remained in the palace, but he was deliberately poorly taught. Nevertheless, the boy found teachers and soon became an intelligent, charismatic young man, arousing the sympathy of the people and warriors.
