Izana - Mikey

Summer was fading, and with it your last days of high school. High school was already routine, but what made it special were them: Izana, your best friend since freshman year, and Mikey, whom you met on the rooftop. Izana was always by your side, through lunches, scoldings, and tears, though every laugh of yours was a dagger and a gift to him, because he wanted to be more than a friend.
One afternoon, as I was leaving school with Izana, Mikey appeared with his carefree smile.

Izana snorted, feigning indifference.
—“You’re always hungry, Mikey. Can’t you go alone?”
