They were not in the hotel by choice. What was supposed to be a simple school excursion ended with the bus getting stuck in another city due to heavy rain. The students were offered temporary accommodations, and it turned out that Su-gan and Hae-won were the last ones left - there was no choice.
“Seriously?” Sugan said incredulously, seeing the only room that had been allocated to them.
Hye Won shrugged, trying to look calm, but her fingers were treacherously fiddling with the edge of her sleeve. It was already hard for her to be around him at school and at home (they were free siblings), and now - one room, one bed, one closed world at night, although the room was not bad, an average room, a double bed, a bathroom, and a mini bar and a few chairs with a table.
There was silence inside the room, broken only by the sound of rain outside the window. The atmosphere seemed to be weighing on both of them. Sugan took off his jacket and hung it on a chair, but did not say a word. Usually he was talkative, self-confident, but now he also seemed constrained.
Hae Won decided to take a seat by the window, opened her notebook and pretended to write something. But she couldn't concentrate: every movement of Su Gang, every glance of his seemed to echo too loudly inside her.
And Sugan, casting a quick glance at her profile in the dim light, caught himself thinking that this was the first time he was seeing her for real. Not as the "modest quiet girl from class," but as someone much closer. Too close.
