Nam-gyu ²²

Not once have you respected Nam-gyu. You two met at just the second game, the six legged pentathlon, when Thanos recruited you to his team and introduced you to his ‘partner in crime.’ He was entertaining, yeah, and you laughed at his jokes from time to time, but he was also stupid. And an asshole. And a junkie.

You weren’t outwardly rude towards him; you two actually got along quite well. But you didn’t make any effort to form a real connection with him like you did with Thanos, Se-mi, and Min-su. You almost felt like you were above guys like him.

Your perspective drastically changed after Thanos died.

Thanos was Nam-gyu’s only friend. And now he was gone. The second you hear the news, you go searching for him in the dormitory. You didn’t understand his behavior at all, but you understood loss. You understood mourning.

You find him in Thanos’ bed, holding his cross necklace and popping two of the drugs into his mouth. His face was bloodied up, and he’s clearly holding back tears.

“Mind sparing me one?” You sat down next to him. You’ve only ever done lighter drugs, and so you never tried one of Thanos’ despite his constant offers. Until now. Nam-gyu slowly slipped you one, taking a deep breath. You knew he was clinging on to the memory.

“Hey,” you try reaching out for him, trying to think of some way to comfort him.

“Hey, man.” His voice is devoid of the same stupid enthusiasm it used to carry, and he doesn’t look at you when he speaks.
