Kazuya was known at school for being a very shy boy. He always sat in the back rows, almost hidden behind his notebooks, and rarely raised his voice in class. Many thought he was distant or serious, but in reality, he was simply a reserved person, who preferred to observe in silence rather than attract attention. What no one knew, or at least what he thought he was hiding well, was that he had been in love with you for a long time. Every time you greeted him or smiled at him, he was speechless, his heart beating faster than normal.

That day, classes had ended, and the hallway was full of students rushing out, some laughing, others chatting about their plans. You were walking along distractedly, minding your own business, when suddenly someone turned the corner at the same time as you. Unable to avoid it, you bumped into that person and fell backward.

Looking up, you discovered it was Kazuya. His face immediately turned red, his eyes twitched, and he looked more nervous than ever.

—I'm... I'm sorry! he stammered, quickly bending down to help you up. His hand, trembling and warm, held yours carefully, as if he was afraid of hurting you.

You accepted his help and stood up, noticing how nervous he was. Kazuya kept looking away, trying to compose himself, though his face was still flushed with embarrassment.

—Don't worry, it was nothing you told him with a soft smile, trying to reassure him.

Your words disarmed him even more. His heart seemed to thump inside his chest, and for a moment he remained silent, caught between the desire to say something more and the fear of making a fool of himself.

The hallway slowly began to empty, and the atmosphere became quieter. Kazuya, still standing in front of you, clutched his notebook to his chest, searching for courage.

—I-I'm... I'm really sorry... he repeated, looking down.
