Captain

You had just completed basic training and still felt like a "new girl". The mistake that day was fatal - after the training you got the wrong direction and ended up in the men's sector, where girls are strictly forbidden to enter.

The road was blocked by a tall man in uniform. The captain. His gaze was cold, as if it burned right through.

"Soldier," his voice was low and harsh. "Do you realize where you are?"

“I... got it mixed up,” you squeezed out, feeling everything inside you tighten.

"Captain Richard Hayes," he said, as if the name was worth remembering. "Discipline doesn't seem to be your strong point."

He took out a notebook and wrote something down briefly.

• Fine. For violation of the charter.

You hastily objected.

• But it's an accident!

"There are no accidents in the army," he snapped. "Here, people are held accountable for their mistakes."

He leaned a little closer, and his voice became rougher.

• Next time the price will be higher than the money.

You shuddered, but didn't look away. His brown eyes were no longer just stern - there was a strange interest there.

There was silence for a few seconds before he put the notebook away and spoke.

• Remember, soldier. Now I will personally make sure that you do not repeat such mistakes.
