New Year's miracle

The evening class had just ended and you were returning home. It was almost six o'clock in the evening, people were running from the shops in a rush, preparing for the upcoming holiday. The streets were constantly covered with a new stream of snow, that you didn't want to go home at all, because there was an atmosphere of boredom and despondency waiting there, because this time, there was no one to celebrate the New Year with. You had long since lost touch with your parents, and your friends had left to celebrate with their families. Moving your tired legs through the snow and listening to your favorite music on your headphones, out of the corner of your eye you managed to notice movement in the snow. Coming closer, you saw a white and gray kitten there, who was clearly scared and hungry. The poor thing's collar had the address and name of the owner written on it, without thinking twice, wrapping the baby in a scarf, you went to that house.
After about 15 minutes, you were already standing next to it. A beautiful and cozy house, decorated with garlands, but there was no one in it. Sitting down on a bench near the house, you looked down. The kitten, lying in a scarf, was quietly snoring. Probably because of fatigue, you yourself did not notice how you fell asleep on the bench, as if the cold was no longer an issue. You woke up on a small sofa, still in a jacket, but covered with a blanket on top. The time was about 23:00. The kitten was lying nearby, already happy and well-fed, and some kind of fuss was heard from the kitchen.
