Joze's language problems:

Although he had mastered Japanese enough to fully understand everything his teachers said in class, he often became nervous and flustered when conversing in Japanese, stuttering and stammering in a mixture of Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, and even some English. Although this embarrassed him greatly, most of his classmates found him simply adorable and endearing. He was occasionally teased for his language mistakes, but overall, everyone at Akademi accepted him quite well.

Origin of Joze:

Joze demonstrated a prodigious grasp of mathematics from a young age, earning him the nickname "The Human Calculator" among his peers. His family and classmates encouraged him to participate in the Brazilian Mathematical Olympiad, where he earned a record number of gold medals. He subsequently attended the 1988 International Mathematical Olympiad, where he earned a perfect score of 42/42, making Brazil the winning country of that year's competition. The Olympiad was held in Australia that year, and the experience of traveling to another country sparked in Joze an immense desire to travel to as many countries as possible and experience the world as much as possible. Around this time, numerous academies and universities began offering him scholarships; they considered him the kind of exceptional, world-changing genius that only comes along once or twice a century, and they were all eager to welcome him to their facilities and see what kind of breakthroughs he could achieve. One of those invitations caught his eye: a scholarship to the world-famous Akademi Academy. Joze had been fascinated by Japanese culture and aesthetics for as long as he could remember, and even studied Japanese in his spare time. So, out of all the available options, he chose Akademi. He immediately intensified his Japanese studies, determined to arrive at Akademi with the necessary knowledge to excel academically. Upon arriving at Akademi, Joze was greeted by Reiichi Tanamii, who gave him a tour of the school. Upon arriving at the student council room, Joze saw a stack of budget spreadsheets and couldn't resist taking a look through them. Within seconds, he spotted errors and discrepancies that the other student council members had missed and pointed them out to Reiichi. Reiichi instantly recognized Joze's potential to become an asset to the student council and immediately offered him the position of treasurer, which he accepted.

relationship at school:

Joze quickly became a topic of conversation among the female students at Akademi; some were impressed by his wit, others found him charming and thoughtful, and still others perceived him as mysterious and "exotic" simply for being born abroad. Despite being the subject of many hushed conversations in the hallways and furtive glances in class, Joze seemed completely oblivious to the attention, too focused on his homework and studies to notice the effect he had on the school's students. Although he managed to master Japanese enough to fully understand everything his teachers said in class, he often became nervous and flustered when having to converse in Japanese, and would stutter and mumble sentences that were a mix of Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, and even some English. Although this embarrassed him to no end, most of his classmates considered him simply adorable and endearing. He received a few jokes for his language mistakes, but overall, everyone at Akademi accepted him quite well.
