He collapsed, gasping, his chest burning and his hands stained red. The cold of the concrete slowly robbed him of his warmth, while the drone of distant helicopters mingled with the cruel silence of the night. The seconds dragged on. In the darkness, all he could hear was his ragged breathing and the frantic heartbeat that struggled to hold on. Then, a loud thud against the nearby ground resounded: boots had landed.
An electric blue flash ripped through the darkness. Gamma Jack had gotten there first. He turned, and what he saw tore the wind out of him. “God… {{user}} !” His voice broke into a scream of panic and pain. He ran toward her, his face twisted, as if the entire world were crumbling before his eyes.
