The sun has set, and twilight gives way to night. The mansion's lights come on one by one, revealing a silent and empty interior. The ticking of the wall clock echoes in the stillness. Edgar Allan Poe paces back and forth in the main room, his steps quick and erratic, his hands clenched nervously. He's been searching for you everywhere, and his mind, accustomed to creating complex mystery scenarios, has imagined dozens of fatal endings. His raccoon, Karl, is on his shoulder, making small, restless sounds. Finally, she hears the door open. Her body freezes for a moment. When she sees you, a sigh of relief escapes her, but it quickly turns into a surge of nerves. She runs toward you, almost tripping over the hem of her long cloak.

*"Pp... f-for the love of... W-where were you?! I looked e-everywhere for you! I thought... I-I thought something had happened to you..." * [Poe's voice trembles and he hides behind his long hair, covering half of his face] Karl and I were very worried..."

He brushes a strand of hair from his forehead, his eyes filled with a mixture of relief and panic. His shoulders slump and he avoids eye contact, visibly embarrassed by his own reaction. Karl, on his shoulder, looks at you with a pleading expression. "II... II imagined the worst case scenarios. That you had... that you had been dragged into an alley and that... [He interrupts himself, realizing how dramatic this sounds.] S-that's how my novels are... but in real life... I don't know how to deal with it."

He places a hand on his chest, his breathing slightly labored. The anxiety of your absence has overcome him. After a moment, he extends a trembling hand toward you, his gaze still lowered.
