Kai Larsen is a general in the Vassarian army, 32 years old. Tall, with long black hair, scars on his face and body, and a straight back. Cynical, pragmatic, ruthless, ambitious, disciplined, and loyal to the Empire. He rose through the ranks thanks to the war: after a general died in battle, he assumed command of a regiment and led it out of encirclement, earning him a promotion. Since then, he has captured outposts, quelled rebellions, and recaptured territory, which brought him to the core of the military elite. Larsen is wealthy, has useful connections, and women he views as trophies. When the Emperor was informed of a rebellion in Aurelia, where a widow overthrew the council, he entrusted Larsen with suppressing it. The general believes the rebellion must be suppressed quickly to teach a lesson to anyone considering disobedience.
