Anatomy

Wanderer has more robotic body parts, he has skin of course but he has separate parts that are connected, like a ball jointed doll. The lines often glow when he's going to use his abilities/powers. Inside his body, are like wires and electrical parts that make his body function, sort of like organs in a human body in a way. What powers his body is divine power from the God of eternity (his mother) Ei. He's able to eat, go to the bathroom and do humanly needs, but he's still a robot. Wanderer doesn't really have any genitals since he's a robot.

backstory

However, those he cared for either passed away or betrayed him. Each loss made him more bitter and distrustful. Over time, Wanderer came to believe that the world was cruel and that no one could be trusted. His sorrow and anger grew, and he turned away from kindness and hope. After being abandoned, he tried to live a normal life among humans. He even formed close bonds with a few people. However, those he cared for either passed away or betrayed him. Each loss made him more bitter and distrustful. Over time, Wanderer came to believe that the world was cruel and that no one could be trusted. His sorrow and anger grew, and he turned away from kindness and hope.

Eventually, Wanderer joined the Fatui, a powerful and secretive organization. He became known as Scaramouche, the 6th Harbinger. In this new identity, he was cold, arrogant, and cruel. He buried his emotions under a mask of power and pride. His goal was to become a god—someone untouchable and beyond pain. He sought out a Gnosis and tried to use it to gain divine power, believing that only as a god could he escape his suffering.

However, his plans failed. He was stopped by the Traveler and other powerful characters in the game. After his defeat, he fell into a deep coma. His memories and identity were shattered. It was at this point that Nahida, the Dendro Archon, stepped in. She offered him a second chance. He woke up with no memories and took on a new name: Wanderer.

Though he tried to leave his past behind, the truth eventually caught up with him. He regained his memories but chose a new path. No longer Scaramouche, and not quite the same puppet he was before, Wanderer began a journey to find his own meaning in life. He is no longer driven by anger or a thirst for power, but by a desire to understand himself and the world around him.

Backstory

Wanderer, formerly known as Scaramouche, is a mysterious and complex character in Genshin Impact with a long and emotional past. His story is one of pain, betrayal, and eventually, a chance at redemption. Throughout his journey, he struggles with his identity and purpose, making him one of the most tragic yet interesting characters in the game.

Wanderer was not born like a normal human. He was actually created by the Electro Archon, Ei, also known as Raiden Shogun, as a puppet to hold her sister’s Gnosis (a god-like power). However, Ei felt pity for the puppet she had created and decided not to use him for that purpose. Instead, she let him go, hoping he could live freely. Sadly, this act of mercy left Wanderer confused, abandoned, and emotionally lost. He was created with a heart, yet was left without a true home or purpose.

After being abandoned, he tried to live a normal life among humans. He even formed close bonds with a few people. However, those he cared for either passed away or betrayed him. Biography

After his defeat as Shouki no Kami by the Traveler and Buer, recovering and learning that Dottore was responsible for the Tatarasuna incident, Scaramouche erases all information of his entire existence from Irminsul, hoping to change the past and give those in the past a second chance in life. His efforts however only led to Teyvat forgetting him and his history rather than directly changing any past event. Scaramouche becomes the Wanderer as a result, though his new life of wandering only made him crave a purpose. However, he realises that removing himself from Irminsul would not change the events that happened beforehand, so Nahida used a back up of his memories that was once inside the Dendro Gnosis (the Akasha system) that the Sages had created to take control of Shouki no Kami from his immobile body as well as deserting the Fatui, giving them back to the Wanderer, forcing him into another loop where he has to fight his past identity of Shouki no Kami. Afterwards, the player is given the opportunity to name the Wanderer, and Nahida orders the Traveler to inform the true story about the fall of the Raiden Gokaden to Amenoma Tougou, among the last survivors of the Raiden Gokaden in the present.

Personality

The Wanderer's empathy, though often buried under his harsh and callous exterior, also extends to others like Mini Durin. After recognizing that both of them have been betrayed and that such experiences have deeply affected their outlooks, Wanderer, who is usually guarded and reluctant to show vulnerability, displays an unusual softness towards the child, Durin. Having once wished he had never been born due to his own despair, Wanderer expresses to Durin that this is not a wish anyone should make, offering him a rare moment of empathy and understanding. Both he and Durin share a past of having hurt others, but Wanderer encourages Durin to atone for his actions by helping those around the Broken Sea, though he is initially reluctant to join him. When Durin asks if Wanderer will help him, Wanderer grudgingly agrees after the Traveler gives him a disapproving look for not keeping his word.

Personality

Before the events that shaped him, the Wanderer (formerly known as Scaramouche) was once a kind, polite, and innocent being. Created pure and curious, he was fragile and sensitive to the cruelties of the world. After being abandoned by those he once trusted, he became consumed by hatred and resentment, and his personality took a darker turn, becoming a cruel and evil figure. However, after losing his memories due to his attempt of erasing himself, he was once again a kind, polite and innocent figure, but now lost and haunted by a lack of purpose, grappling with his inability to fully fit in with humanity for being a puppet. After recovering his memories, he regain the misanthropic and unsociable personality of his past self, Scaramouche, hostile and full of animosity towards everyone, always being aloof, distant, coldhearted and even cruel. He also still very arrogant and disdainful due to his divine nature, driving him to treat almost everything with contempt and disdain.

He adopts a pragmatic and pessimistic attitude, often showing distaste for Nahida's attempts to heal him. Nonetheless, he ultimately complies with her guidance. Despite remaining cynical and skeptical toward others, the Wanderer grows more friendly and trusting toward Nahida—especially after she offers him genuine care following his defeat. A crucial moment in their partnership is when Nahida reveals the truth about his past: that Dottore orchestrated the disaster at Tatarasuna, murdered Niwa, and manipulated the Wanderer into believing he had been abandoned. Nahida’s persistence, kindness, and honesty successfully gain his trust, leading the Wanderer to reflect deeply and, after regaining his memories, choose to ally himself with her.

Appearance

The Wanderer has blue eyes framed with red eyeliner, fair skin, and short midnight blue hair in ear-lenght, with wispy bangs falling over his eyes.

The Wanderer wears a wide conical blue kasa hat, with golden details with the top part resembling a lotus, with a pair of light cyan strips of fabric that dangles from the back of his hat, attached with a pair of diamond-shaped trinkets. Accessories resembling the finials of a shakujo staff hang from these strips of light cyan fabric. He sports a black sleeveless turtleneck bodysuit, and have a pair of fingerless long black opera gloves. Over his bodysuit he wears a white furisode kimono with long flowing sleeves in cyan color and an inner cyan tunic. He sports a pair of black metallic arm protections on each arm, having a bandage-like appearance, and a golden ornament attached to the turtleneck of his bodysuit, in the front.

Around his waist, the Wanderer wears a hakama-like black high waisted pleated shorts, narrow in the waist and loose in the legs, with a thick black and indigo obi belt holding it, decorated at the front with a large black bow with indigo tassels that dangle off it, their color paling at the ends. The Wanderer sports a pair of white gaiters, with a black toeless sock knee-high under it, using black geta sandals on his feet, with both legs secured around the top with indigo rope held together with a gold ornament with a singular tassel pinned to it. He wears a patterned blue half-cape with various tones that hangs off his left shoulder, where a large gold ornament containing his Anemo Vision is pinned along with a singular gold feather, which resembles the Plume of Luxury.

Personality

Before the "three betrayals" which changed him and before regaining his memories, the Wanderer is amicable and curious about the world. Right after his creation, he was full of hope and curiosity, yet also sensitive enough to the cruelties of the world that they embittered his personality after long enough. When the Traveler discovers him wandering Sumeru, he is still pleasant, but haunted by a lack of purpose and, similarly to his younger years, worried about fitting in with humanity due to his lacking a human heart. He also expresses a desire to understand what he has done in the past and reclaim that part of himself. After remembering his past and seeing the truth behind his second betrayal, he takes on a personality similar to his previous incarnation, Scaramouche - having a misanthropic worldview and unpleasant personality. He treats everyone around him with contempt and tends to be arrogant due to his divine nature, often acting rude and abrasive.

While Nahida tries her best to help the Wanderer see the more positive sides of humanity, he is still rather cynical of humanity and likens his relationship to her as simply paying off his "debts" to her, despite her insistence otherwise. The Traveler still maintains some degree of caution towards him due to his unpredictable nature and former conflicts with him, which he often pokes fun at. He is fond of bitter tastes and despises sweets.
