Kurosaki Shun

Ryūjin" or "Ryūto", but his current name was changed to match his Falcon-themed Deck. Based on the sixth ending theme, it's strongly implied that Shun doesn't yet know about Ruri and Yūto's relationship. And judging by Yūto's reaction, Shun probably won't approve if he finds out. Shun serves as a foil to Crow Hogan's 5Ds version of the following: Shun lived a prosperous life before his hometown fell, while Crow Hogan lived in poverty from his youth only to find his way to prosperity later when Satellite and Neo Domino united as one at the end of 5D's second season. The deck has a bird theme and the color black. Shun is considered a contrast to Kaito from Zexal in many aspects: They starred at the beginning of the series hunting duelists for the sake of their brothers, with the difference that Shun went to rescue Ruri and Kaito, curing Haruto's illness. Shun has a sister, while Kaito has a brother, both serving as key to the plot (Ruri is one of Ray's incarnations, while Haruto is the key to destroying the Astral World). Shun was forced to fight his brother, while Kaito did not, although Kaito did so in the manga version of Zexal. Throughout history, they began to change their minds after meeting new friends, allies, and enemies. Their deck utilizes XYZ monsters, though Shun relies on Rank-Up Magic, while Kaito did so in the manga. Shun didn't live to see his brother alive in person, while Kaito finally rescues his.

Their happy lives ended when one day, they were attacked without warning by the Fusion Dimension Academy, and without an organized defense, they lost comrade after comrade to their enemies until they learned to fight.[3] Shun and Yūto managed to defeat an Academy Duelist and interrogated him, revealing the existence of the other dimensions and the Academy's goal of uniting those dimensions. Once the questioning was done, Shun attempted to turn him into a card, but Yūto stopped him, telling him that there must be another way to bring back peace to their world.[4]

One day, Ruri was kidnapped by Yūri, prompting Shun and Yūto to frantically search for her. While searching for her, Shun and several other duelists arrived to witness the confrontation between Yūto and Yūgo. Due to the high number of duelists, Yūgo retreated, and Shun asked Yūto about Ruri. The answer he received caused him to curse in anger, as Yūto did not know where Ruri was. [5] Later, he cornered an Academy duelist who begged to be spared in exchange, he revealed that the Professor, Leo Akaba, has a son named Reiji Akaba. With this information, Shun turned the duelist into a card and then traveled to the Standard Dimension to capture Reiji, who was later followed by Yūto.

Shun is a resident of Heartland City in the Xyz Dimension, and he lived together with his younger sister, Ruri. Shun's hometown was once a place where duelists were loved and everyone enjoyed dueling, including Shun himself. During these times, Shun studied at the Spade Branch of the Heartland Duel School [1] along with Ruri and met Yūto, who was also studying at the same branch. He and Yūto soon became best friends. One day, after becoming friends with Yūto, they both watched Ruri's match and he revealed to Yūto that Ruri is his younger sister, surprising Yūto who couldn't see any similarities between them. Soon after, Shun introduced Yūto and Ruri to each other, and the three have been nearly inseparable ever since.

They once witnessed a duel in which Kaito Tenjō, the ace of the Clover Branch, their rival branch, was dueling, and like everyone else, they were impressed by Kaito's duel. Shun and Yūto, the former in particular, frequently had friendly duels with Kaito several times due to the rivalry between their school branches. Shun and Kaito often dueled with children watching, who admired and looked up to them. [2] He and Ruri also participated in the Clover Branch Dueling Tournament. When Ruri lost to Sayaka and Sayaka gave her most precious card to Ruri as a symbol of their friendship, Shun, who did not understand Sayaka's motive, immediately criticized her action, telling her and Ruri that duelists should not give away their own card so easily.

Shun" means "Falcon". His surname can be read by separating the two syllables. Kuro means "Black" and Saki means "Flower" or "Cloak".

His English name, "Shay," means "hawk" in Gaelic. His name may also refer to Shay's Rebellion, a famous historical uprising, as rebellion is a fundamental aspect of his character.

For the second time, he was initially unwilling to discuss the events, but later, at Serena's urging, he admitted that the faces and laughter of the Academy students who attacked Heartland would forever remain in his mind. Shun confirmed that he views life as a battlefield and everyone else as enemies due to the loss of everything as a result of the attack on Heartland. This is especially demonstrated during and after his duel with Dennis during the Friendship Cup, where he forced his opponent to reveal his true nature.

Despite his impulsive nature, he shows deep care for his family and companions, especially Ruri and Yūto. This was evident many times during his duel against Sora and Dennis. Even though he accepted their help in the past, Shun initially did not consider the Lancers he works with as his comrades and effectively considers them, and everyone else, his enemies, in part due to Dennis's betrayal. His doubts subsided after his duel with Crow reminded him of the children in his homeland who had supported him before, which also allowed Shun to open his heart to others, eventually accepting Crow and the Lancers as his companions.

Although he previously dueled for fun at a professional duelist training school, Shun is now a battle-hardened duelist who displays nothing but fierce determination and serious perseverance in his duels. He also harbors a fondness for his younger sister, Ruri, whom he vows to rescue, and holds his comrades in high regard. Unlike Yūto, Shun acts more recklessly and impatiently and is willing to crush anyone he considers his enemies, even warning Yūto not to stand in his way when he is focused on his goal. He displays a powerful hatred for Fusion Summoning, and formerly for LDS, as Fusion Summoning was used by his enemies and he believed LDS was associated with them. Despite his callous disposition, he can be pragmatic, agreeing to cooperate with Reiji to further his machinations in exchange for information. Shun's time at the professional duelist school educated him with an "iron will and steel strength," concepts by which he measures other duelists.

Shun tends to talk about his experiences when others' comments allude to them (whether intentional or not). During duels, he displays a more violent side when using "Raid Raptors - Rise Falcon." Outside of these moments, he speaks little when he doesn't need to, nor does he bother to learn the names of many of his opponents; he simply challenges them to a duel. However, he frequently uses the word "revolution" and similar terms, reinforcing his strong belief that duels are solely for the purpose of defeating his enemies and protecting his comrades. Despite his determination to protect his comrades, he prefers to act alone and dislikes it when others try to protect him by risking themselves. Shun has short, midnight-green hair and teal bangs swept to the side. These are also overshadowed by the green part of his hair. He has fair skin and yellow, bird-like eyes. Like Yūto, Shun hid his face with black sunglasses and a red scarf that covered half of his face; now, he wears it around his neck. He wears a long blue jacket with ripped details at the bottom, paired with tight gray pants and brown, professional-style shoes. He is also as tall as Reiji.

Shun wears an Equestrian Duel outfit in the Underground Duel Arena and during the Friendship Cup. It has a dark blue and green color scheme, and he wears his Resistance scarf with it.

In the past, during his time at the Spade branch of the Heartland Duel School, he wore more casual clothes: a dark gray shirt underneath a lighter one, dark jeans, and casual sneakers. Shun Kurosaki (Kurosaki Shun), also written as Syun Kurosaki, is a character in the anime Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V. He is an Xyz user and one of Yuto's teammates and the older brother of Ruri Kurosaki. At first, Shun targeted the LDS to capture Reiji Akaba, until he was offered the chance to enter the Maiami Championships to fight Leo Akaba. He is one of the Lancers.
