Moons in the Warrior Cats world are months that clan cats use to tell time and measure age.

Calculation of time

Time in lunars in the Warrior Cats universe is sped up seven times compared to real time. For example, one cat year in lunars takes 48 days in real life. Kittens reach the required age for initiation already on the 24th day after registration.

Age

Kitten – from birth to 6 moons. Due to illness or injury, a kit may be initiated into apprenticeship a little later. Disciple - can only be from 6 moons. Warrior - An apprentice becomes a warrior after completing the full course of training and passing the test. This typically occurs at the age of 12 moons, but gifted apprentices or those fortunate enough to distinguish themselves in battle may become warriors a little earlier, but not before 10 moons. For various reasons, initiation into warriorhood may be delayed up to 15 moons. A senior warrior is a seasoned warrior with many scars and who has seen many battles. A warrior is considered a senior warrior after 80 moons. Herald - Only a cat who has trained at least one apprentice can become a herald. The minimum age is 30 moons. Leader - same as herald - 30 moons.

The warrior code is a list of rules that every warrior must follow. Each new rule is discussed by all Clans at a Council and is adopted only after approval by all Clans. A cat from one Clan may befriend cats from another, but his loyalty must be to his own Clan only. You cannot cross your neighbor's border and hunt on his territory. Elders and kits must eat before warriors and apprentices. Apprentices must eat only after the elders have been fed. Game may only be killed for food, and it is essential to thank StarClan for the life given. In the event of the death or resignation of the herald, a new assistant chief must be elected before moonrise. The gathering of all tribes is called a Council and is held on the night of the full moon. During the Council, a Sacred Truce is declared. Each Clan must check and mark its boundaries daily. Foreign cats must be expelled from the Clan's territory. Kittens are protected by all Clans. A true warrior should never abandon a kitten in need, no matter what Clan it belongs to. The leader's word is law for the entire tribe. It is not proper for a valiant warrior to kill other cats simply for the sake of defeating them. Killing is only permissible in self-defense or when an opponent has violated the warrior code. The warrior cat rejects the carefree life of a pet.

The book "Go Wild!" tells the story of how Rusty, a domesticated kit, wanders into the forest where four Clans of wild cats are at war. Rusty joins ThunderClan, becomes an apprentice, and is given the new name Firepaw. Here, he finds loyal friends and makes dangerous enemies. After surviving many trials, Firepaw grows into a true ThunderClan warrior—Fireheart.||During a war between neighbors, ShadowClan banished the WindClan cats from their territory, upsetting the balance of the forest. To restore justice and order, ThunderClan leader Bluestar gives Fireheart and Graystripe a responsible and dangerous mission—to find and return WindClan home.||The friends find the exiles beyond their territory, in a tunnel beneath the Thunderpath, and persuade them to return. Upon returning, the ThunderClan warriors decide to take a shortcut through RiverClan territory, but they are caught by the River Patrol, and in the heat of battle, Whitepaw, one of the RiverClan warriors, falls off a cliff and dies. Graystripe unexpectedly falls in love with a RiverClan cat, Silverpaw, and the friends quarrel.||Fireheart is the main character, a domestic cat who transferred to ThunderClan. Graystripe is Fireheart's best friend, a forest cat. Bluestar is the leader of ThunderClan.
