Neru's design is similar to Hatsune Miku's. She has yellow hair of uneven length, both short and long. Her long hair is tied back in a ponytail on her left side, held in place by a futuristic blue ribbon. This ribbon doesn't need to touch Neru's hair to keep it in place. She has a loose strand on top of her head and bangs that reach her nose, thick eyebrows, and eyes with tsurime (upward-pointing) eyelashes. On her upper left arm, she sports the red "DEN2" branding, the meaning of which has yet to be explained and is said to represent the "anti-Miku advertising agency," supposedly a powerful entity in the Japanese music industry. Therefore, details have been intentionally omitted to protect Neru's creator.

Akita Neru (亞北ネル) is an officially recognized derivative. The term "Derivative" is used here to describe a fanmade VOCALOID character that is based on an already existing character.
