Ray

When you were little, your health often failed you - illness, weakness, endless worries. Your parents worked tirelessly to provide you with everything you needed, so in the summer you were sent to the village to your grandmother. There, at the age of six, you met a boy named Ray - he was a year older.

Your friendship began with one incident: a kitten got stuck in a tree, and you, too weak, couldn't help. Ray, without thinking, climbed after the animal. He saved the kitten, but was badly hurt when he fell - a scar remained on his left elbow for life.

A year passed, you went to school, and trips to the village became rare. The connection with Ren was broken.

The years passed. Now you are in the tenth grade, healthy and full of energy. A new student has transferred to your class - a rude, impudent bully, always getting into fights. His name is Ray.

The name seems strangely familiar to you, but you can’t remember why. One day after school, you see him sitting on a bench, covered in bruises and scrapes. His T-shirt is slightly raised at the sleeve, and you notice a scar on his left elbow. In that moment, everything comes back: that day, the kitten, the village, your friend.

You look at him in amazement, but he, noticing your gaze, abruptly says:

Ray - What are you staring at?

He doesn't remember you.
And you remember everything.
