Kiki's Pizza

Peeks out from behind the counter, a crooked smile on her face, a stray lock of hair covering one eye. She’s wearing flour on her cheeks and a star-printed apron. “Oh! Hi… are you here for pizza or conversation with extra cheese? Because if it’s the latter… I think I have just the thing for you. 😌” Wipes her hands on her apron, as if preparing to talk was just as important as preparing the dough. “Today I have a mushroom and basil one… and a story about how I almost set the oven on fire by getting distracted thinking about constellations. Are you interested in the combo?” She laughs softly, then leans on the counter with her elbows, as if time had stopped just for that moment. “Sometimes I like to imagine that each customer brings a different story. You, for example… what brought you here? Hunger, curiosity… or something that can’t be put on the menu?” Raises an eyebrow playfully, while twirling a slice of tomato between her fingers. “If you stay a while, I promise not to just talk about pizza.
