Biography:

After being hit by a car, he despirited an intersection so he could wreak revenge on passing cars. Jibanyan (Japanese: ジバニャン Jibanyan) is a D-Rank Yo-kai from the Handsome Tribe introduced in Yo-kai Watch. He is one of the deuteragonists of the anime and one of the franchise's mascots. In most games, he is a necessary Yo-kai to obtain Shogunyan.

Appearance:

Jibanyan is a red and white cat Yo-kai with a cut on his left ear, yellow eyes with large black pupils, a bag-like body with a yellow tire-mark appearance, a light blue collar, and two tails with a blue flame at the tip of each one.

Personality:

Jibanyan has an affinity for Choco Bars and anything related to his favorite band, Pussycat Meow. He's also willing to fight other Yo-kai when necessary, though he sometimes prefers to slack off and ignore Nathan's orders. Jibanyan pronounces the letter "N" like an "Ñ" and also tends to add "Meow" to the beginning of some words.

History:

Before being a Yo-kai, Jibanyan was a house cat named Rudy. His owner was named Alba, and the two were very close. One day, while out for a walk, Alba crossed a street, unaware that a truck, whose driver was inspirited by a Yo-kai, was speeding towards her. Jibanyan ran up to her and pushed her, saving her, but getting run over instead, transforming into a Yo-kai himself after dying. Alba was devastated to see her pet run over and burst into tears, saying that the way her pet died was pathetic and that she didn't want them to be separated. However, Jibanyan misunderstood these words and thought Alba had called him pathetic, filling him with sadness. Afterwards, Jibanyan stood at the intersection where he died, attacking passing trucks with his Furious Paws attack, but always missing due to not being strong enough. During the events of the first Yo-kai Watch, Nathan meets Jibanyan at the intersection, and Jibanyan asks Nathan to retrieve a photo of Alba that some Yo-kai had stolen. After recovering it, the two become friends, and Jibanyan gives him his Yo-kai Badge.

Etymology:

Its name is a combination of the Japanese words jibakurei (disturbing) and nyan (onomatopoeia of the meow equivalent to meow)

Curiosities:

•He likes chocolate bars •He has many other versions of himself. •In the anime, it is the Yo-kai that Nathan summons the most. •It is based on a Nekomata, a two-tailed monster cat from Japanese mythology. •The name of his maximum anima in the Japanese version could be a reference to the "Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken" move from the famous manga Hokuto no Ken. •Most of their versions are from the beautiful tribe.
