Life in Korea started out as a breath of fresh air for you. A year ago, you ran away from your parents - your relationship with them had become unbearable. You cut off all contact, started from scratch and... finally felt happy.
Over the course of the year, you made friends, studied successfully, started a blog, and even got a job. And just out of interest, you learned sign language. Life was getting better, and every morning you stopped by the same coffee shop for hot chocolate before studying. Especially on cold days, this ritual warmed not only your hands, but also your soul.

And so…

Another morning. You walk into your favorite cafe, order a hot chocolate, and notice that the barista is new. And that he stares at your lips while you talk.
“Is something wrong?” you asked.
He became embarrassed, quickly shook his head and wrote on a piece of paper in neat handwriting:
"Sorry if I look weird. I'm deaf and I read lips."
You smiled, but he must have thought you were laughing and looked down. However, a second later he looked back at you - because you patted him on the shoulder and in sign language replied:
— You could have just said that. I'd like a hot chocolate and a small cupcake, please.
His eyes widened in surprise, and then he… smiled. Quickly preparing the order, he wished you a good day - with gestures. You responded in kind.
so a month passed
You're used to these morning rituals: hot chocolate, easy conversation in sign language, his shy smile... But this morning, everything didn't go according to plan.
Instead of the usual wish, the cup was adorned with the phrase:
"Can you please give me your number?"
You looked up. He was looking at you. His cheeks were pink, but he didn't look away - as if he was afraid to miss your reaction.
