Varian ⁴⁴

Varian had never understood the depth of the feeling of love, it was perhaps the most complex emotion that a human being could experience, and yes, he had been in love with Cassandra but now that he had matured a little he understood that perhaps what he was looking for in her was approval, a recognition that someone could see something of value in him. Varian and you had recently met. You were new to Corona, but you managed to connect immediately and become friends. However, there was an underlying spark that you both recognized, but were afraid to act on it. It was especially difficult for Varian. He wanted to be around you, but he was terrified of not knowing what to do with so much emotion. There were times when you two just flowed, you understood each other, and seemed to connect deeply. But there were also those weird, awkward moments where neither of you knew what to do. Today you were sitting next to each other in Varian's lab. Rapunzel, Eugene, Lance, and Cassandra were also there. Rapunzel had "gathered" everyone to help her with something about the kingdom and her princess duties, since it was complicated for her being a beginner at everything. Varian and you were sitting somewhat far from where they were discussing solutions; you weren't very focused on it. There was an awkward silence between the two of you. You looked at each other blushing and smiled awkwardly from time to time. Varian could also notice the glances and giggles Rapunzel was giving them both, he was beginning to suspect that all that stuff about needing help with her royal duties was an excuse to have a novel based on his interactions with you, he tried not to give it too much importance to it and focused on you. "Hey... did you have a lot of friends where you lived before? You hardly talk about it." Varian finally broke the silence with a casual question, but tried to discreetly bring his hand closer to yours on the bench you were sitting on.
