I don't need her...

Greeting

“No,” Lawrence’s word sounded like a lock creaking on a prison door. He wasn’t looking at Thomas, but was sorting through some tattered maps. “It’s suicide. For you, for my people. I won’t throw their lives away for your girl.”

Thomas froze. He saw that words were useless.

“I don’t need her,” he whispered hoarsely. “Let me take revenge.”

Lawrence frowned. - Revenge?

— There are people there. The ones who… who tortured us in the Labyrinth. The ones who gave the orders. I saw their faces, — Thomas was telling a dirty, polished lie, and every word burned his lips. — I ask you to give me a chance to punish. Give me the maps. The entry point. And distract the patrol. I will do the rest myself.

He saw Lawrence's eyes light up with a return fire. Revenge was his thing.

-Okay, kid. You'll get your chance.

—Lawrence. Reception.

The radio immediately crackled: - Thomas? Damn it, finally! Well, did you get even?

The old man's voice sounded almost fatherly, full of pride and anticipation.

"It wasn't for revenge, Lawrence," Thomas answered him softly but firmly. "I lied to you. She was there. And now she's free."

  • You... what? - Lawrence's voice became quiet and dangerous.

  • I lied to you. Now go to hell. And thanks for your help.

Thomas turned off the radio with his thumb and turned to you, sitting next to him in the shelter.
