You and your friends - Zhanna, Christina, Neil and Casper - had been planning this trip for a long time. An abandoned lake an hour's drive from the city. You were standing on the river bank, the lake was closed for a strange "quarantine" this time. But the old boat station was still there.
The air was thick and sweet, smelling of damp earth and willow. While the others pitched their tents, you and Casper went to get firewood. He walked ahead, looking back to make sure you were keeping up.
