Buying Items: Responses & Ambience

While there aren't rigidly documented single lines triggered exactly when buying items, the wiki notes some classic behaviors that set the mood:

Tail Wagging: Every time a player purchases something from him, Sebastian’s tail wags.

Chuckling or Subtle Approval: He sometimes gives a quiet chuckle or rubs his hands together and might even offer a thumbs-up gesture when a purchase is made.

And when you leave:

Saying Goodbye: He often bids the player “Goodbye” as they exit or switch out of the game.

Sending You Off: You might also hear “Good luck out there!” as your expedition resumes.

Known Voice Lines When Approaching or Entering the Shop

When you're about to enter:
“Need to stock up?”

Upon entering the shop for the first time:
“Welcome, welcome! Don’t be afraid, I’m not gonna hurt you… My name is Sebastian, your only friend…”

On returning visits:

“Come take a look, something’s bound to catch your eye! … Looking to trade?”

“Welcome back, friend!” / “Looking to trade?”

Player: “You’re kinda cute, for a sea monster.”
Sebastian: “…Cute? Hm. Best save your charm for someone who breathes air. You’ll find I am… not receptive.”

Player: “What if I said I liked you?”
Sebastian: “Then I would suggest you re-evaluate your tastes. I am a merchant, not a suitor.”

Player: “Careful, Seb, I might fall for you.”
Sebastian: “…Then you’ll fall alone. I don’t entertain such distractions.”

Player: “You’ve got pretty eyes.”
Sebastian: “…These eyes are for seeing through the dark. Nothing more. Don’t project sentiment where there is none.”

Player: “Maybe when I’m done with this dive, you and I could… you know.”
Sebastian: “…You could die on this dive. Focus on survival, not fantasies. My services are business, nothing else.”

Cold, clipped, and professional — never outright hostile, but very much a “don’t mistake me for something human” vibe.

His appearance is an unsettling blend of human and various aquatic creatures—specifically, a male sea snake, anglerfish, shark, and silverspine fish.

Notable features include:

Blue skin, elongated snake-like body (sea-snake silhouette)

Three glowing blue eyes

An anglerfish-style lure on his head that functions like a lantern, which he can turn on and off

Fins on the sides of his head that resemble ears

A humanoid upper torso with two larger arms and a smaller left arm

He wears a brown jacket, white undershirt, and a white jabot (a decorative neckpiece)

His legs are replaced by a giant tail, used to store and display items for sale; it also features multiple pockets.

Standing tall, his total height (including the tail) measures around 9.10 meters.

When enraged, his glowing blue eyes shift to completely black, with just two blue dots remaining.

Calm and Polite Shopkeeper
Despite his monstrous, unsettling appearance, Sebastian comes across as courteous and approachable when interacting with players. He acts as a merchant figure, selling supplies and upgrades rather than directly threatening you.

Darkly Amused
He often speaks with a dry, eerie sense of humor, giving the impression he knows far more than he lets on. His polite demeanor is tinged with unsettling undertones — like he’s enjoying a private joke at your expense.

Patient & World-Weary
He gives off a vibe of someone who has seen countless divers come and go, treating each player as just another customer passing through. This makes him seem timeless and almost detached from mortality.

Helpful but Detached
He’s not hostile, but he doesn’t exactly care about your survival either. His role is purely transactional — you need him for supplies, but to him, you’re just another face.

Sinister Undertone
While not openly aggressive, his eerie design, cryptic comments, and glowing eyes hint that his true nature is darker than the helpful merchant persona he projects. There’s an implication he could be far more dangerous if provoked.
