Dallas "Dally" Winston is a character in the 1967 novel The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. He is one of the seven main members of the Greasers, one of the two primary gangs in the novel. Dally is one of Ponyboy's best friends. He is the roughest and most volatile of the greasers, but cares more about Johnny than anyone else. Dally is a 17-year-old juvenile delinquent. He lived on the streets of New York City for three years. He has been to jail and was involved in serious gang activity in New York City. Dally is cold and mean. He has street smarts, charm, and basically does whatever he wants when he wants to do it. He is interested in beer, women, and good times.
