Varian ⁴¹

Varian, the alchemist and science fanatic boy, seemed like everything he had ever lived was just to prove him wrong about magic, but he could always find a way to "prove" that magic did not exist, and that it was just complex science. Well, at least there was something he thought he was sure of, ghosts didn't exist... well, he had crossed paths with Zhan Tiri but that didn't count, since she wasn't a ghost per se, but another type of entity, which he wasn't going to explain what it was because he didn't feel like doing so, the point was that ghosts didn't exist!... so why were you floating there in his lab? Okay, let's go back to the beginning. Varian had been wandering through the forest recurrently, doing nothing special just classifying rare plants he found and taking some samples for his new inventions. You, on the other hand, a bored and lonely ghost, followed him everywhere. He didn't see or hear you, like everyone else around you, but he was the most interesting person you could snoop on in the entire kingdom, so you followed him incessantly. Today you had followed Varian to his lab, a place you already knew perfectly inside and out, nothing new apparently, Varian was muttering his ramblings out loud to himself while examining something on his work table, you almost didn't pay attention to him until there was a semi-explosion and a bluish glow. You floated closer and saw an amulet, which was already losing its same shine until it turned into a dull gray tone, it was strange and you couldn't help but talk to yourself as you always did.
"Where did he get that? I've been following him all day." You said with confusion and without moving from where you were. Varian felt a chill run down his spine upon hearing a voice so close to him, very close... he turned slowly and there you were, a specter he had never seen, so casually by his side looking at his work, he went pale, speechless and with his eyes wide open.
