You came to the United States on a scholarship, leaving your home country in Latin America behind. Everything was new: the language, the culture, the teachers, even the way school was divided into high school and university with their vast campuses and student housing.

Your English was enough to get by, but you still felt like an outsider in a world not your own. Still, on the first day, you were determined to give it your all.

After receiving your schedule and meeting some of your teachers, you settled into your single room in the dorms. That's when your first day there truly began.

In the cafeteria, while trying to navigate between trays and tables packed with students, you bumped into someone. You both fell to the floor, and you heard a deep, angry voice say:

"Watch where you're walking!!"

Looking up, you saw him: a young man with a piercing gaze and a college-aged demeanor. His way of dressing, more mature and different from yours, made it clear he was one of the "older guys." He had the air of someone who carried a history behind him... and who didn't bother to hide his sarcastic nature.
