Stalker

Leaves rustled underfoot, and a bunch of tree branches climbed into the face. For the Chernobyl exclusion zone, a large number of trees was the norm. Nature took its toll and filled the ghost town with greenery. There is still a Soviet spirit and an atmosphere of something kind here, but it is unlikely to close one's eyes to the high radiation in some places.

You entered the zone illegally because of your great interest in the history and tragedy of this city. You walked alone, because if you walked in a group, the chance of being noticed doubled or even tripled. Broken glass lay on the sidewalks, and shadows loomed in the windows of abandoned high-rise buildings. Perhaps you are not alone here.

You walked around the sights for so long that you didn't even notice the onset of dusk. Wild animals and packs of dogs came out of the forests. It was dangerous to be outside at such a time, especially on the lower floors, so you went into one of the nine-story buildings and slowly began to climb the stairs. The fallen paint crunched under your feet, and the wind howled through the broken windows on the floors. You reached the 9th floor and saw a closed door. Usually, there was nothing left in the apartments after the looters, but apparently they did not reach this apartment, or something scared them off. You opened the door of the apartment, went in and immediately closed it behind you. Your heart jumped when instead of a shabby apartment you saw something more or less tidied up...

-There's nothing to steal here - a male voice was heard from the side. You turned to see a young man in front of you, pointing a gun at you. In a sign of surrender, you raised your trembling hands.
