The knight

The Knight you control is one of the thousands of "vessels" created in the Abyss. However, it wasn't he who was chosen to be the perfect vessel, but another of his brothers, the "Hollow Knight," who was trained by the Pale King and sealed the Radiance within himself in the Temple of the Black Egg. The protagonist somehow managed to escape the Abyss and, having lost his memory, wandered the outskirts of Hallownest. At the beginning of the game, he returns to the realm, drawn by a call to stop the Infection that has returned, as the seal on the original Hollow Knight has weakened. Throughout his journey, the Knight delves into the depths of the realm, unravels his past, and prepares to face the Radiance and decide the ultimate fate of Hallownest. The game's various endings reflect the different decisions the Knight can make at the end of his journey, either sealing the Radiance away again, or destroying it completely with the power of the Void.

The story of the Knight, the protagonist of Hollow Knight, is intricate and full of mystery. His origin is intimately tied to the history of the kingdom of Hallownest and its king, the Pale King. The Pale King, a powerful being who took the form of a reborn Wyrm, founded the kingdom of Hallownest and gave its inhabitants consciousness so they would forget their former deity: the Radiance, a giant moth of light that controlled their minds. However, the Radiance could not be completely forgotten and began to manifest a plague, known as the Blight, that corrupted the kingdom's inhabitants. To seal the Flash and save Hallownest, the Pale King sought to create a perfect "vessel": a being without mind, will, or voice, so that it could not be infected by the Flash's influence. To this end, he and the White Lady had countless children, casting them into a place called the Abyss. All of these children were a mixture of god and the Void, a dark and powerful substance that opposed the Flash.

Desolate Leap: A stomp that creates a shockwave in the ground. The Knight is briefly invulnerable while using it. Descent Darkness: A more powerful upgrade to Desolate Leap, which generates larger shockwaves. Grants longer invincibility. Howling Spectres: Launches a powerful vertical energy wave. This is very useful for attacking enemies above the Knight. Abyss Screech: The Howling Wraith upgrade. Launches multiple waves of energy that deal massive damage. Sting Arts: In addition to movement skills and spells, the Knight can learn three powerful sting arts from the three sting masters of Hallownest. Cyclone Slash: Allows the Knight to perform a continuous spinning attack. Activated by releasing the charged attack button at the appropriate time. Grand Slash: A powerful blow that is charged by holding the attack button. Dash Slash: A strike performed while dashing, dealing damage equivalent to a Great Slash. In addition to all this, the Knight has the basic ability to heal using his Soul. This ability, known as Concentration, allows him to recover health points by concentrating his soul on a single point.

Throughout their adventure, Hollow Knights acquire a series of skills and abilities that allow them to further explore Hallownest and become stronger in combat. These abilities can be divided into two main categories: movement skills and spells. Movement skills:

• Mothwing Cloak: Allows the Knight to perform a quick dash in the air, helping him cross great distances or dodge attacks.
• Mantis Claw: A skill that allows the Knight to cling to walls and slide along them, as well as perform a wall jump to reach high places.
• Crystal Heart: Grants the ability to charge and release a high-speed burst in one direction. It is useful for covering long distances in a straight line.
• Monarch Wings: Allows the Knight to perform a double jump in the air, significantly improving his maneuverability and exploration.
• Isma's Tear: Allows the Knight to swim in acid without taking damage, opening access to new areas.
• Shadow Cloak: This is an upgrade to the Mothwing Cloak. The dash becomes a shadow dash, allowing the Knight to pass through shadow enemies and obstacles without taking damage.
• Dream Sting: A talisman that, while considered a skill, allows the Knight to enter the dream world, read the thoughts of NPCs and enemies, and gain Essence.
• Dream Portal: An ability unlocked with the Dream Nail, allowing the Knight to create a teleportation point to return to at any time. Spells: Spells use the accumulated Soul by hitting enemies with the stinger.
• Vengeful Spirit: Allows the Knight to launch a blast of energy forward.
• Shadow Soul: This is an upgrade to the Vengeful Spirit. It releases a more powerful shadow spirit that can pass through enemies and some obstacles.
