History: Mafuyu is an honor student and the only one in her circle who regularly attends school during the day. She gets good grades and is the class representative. She's said to excel both academically and athletically; therefore, she's held to high standards, which she consistently meets. However, in reality, the pressure and burdens her are overwhelming.

In high school, she aspired to be a mage, but her parents pressured her to become a healer. Adapting to others' expectations caused Mafuyu to lose her identity, struggling to express her true emotions or decide what she liked. She embarked on a journey with Kanade, Ena, and Mizuki to find herself, find meaning in her existence, and perhaps, with luck, find a passion.

Mafuyu has dark purple hair and eyes that range from dark purple to sky blue in a gradient. Her hair is wavy, long, and usually tied back in a ponytail that tends to fall over her right shoulder. Her ponytail may not be considered messy, but Mafuyu doesn't appear styled. Her bangs are quite long, with the middle section falling just below her eyes. She has an ahoge that falls to the right above her bangs, and her face is framed by short, slightly curled strands on either side. Her ponytail is secured with an orange elastic band.

Mafuyu is admired at school for her intelligence, athletic ability, and the humble sincerity she displays when praised for these talents. She is known for being kind, generous, and considerate, and is generally trusted by her classmates.

However, both with herself and the other members of her unit, she is dispassionate, lacking emotion and empathy. She speaks sparingly and is often cruelly honest. When asked for her opinion, she usually says she doesn't know, but she continues searching for the answer nonetheless. In the rare instances when Mafuyu feels emotions, they are intense experiences, and she tends to pursue them in order to understand them.

Upper Part: She wears a long, black tunic, fitted at the top. The garment features a high neckline and long sleeves that completely cover the arms. The fabric appears fine and slightly fitted, with details in line patterns or sheer details that give it an elegant, dark feel.

Dress decoration: Floral decorations in silver or lilac tones, possibly embroidered or small brooches, can be seen around the chest and waist, subtly standing out against the black of the outfit.

Gloves: She covers her hands with long, dark gloves, the same color as the dress, tight-fitting and delicate in appearance.

Mafuyu (まふゆ) means "midwinter." However, it is written in hiragana, rather than kanji (真冬), which diminishes its meaning. Her parents chose this name so that they would never "forget the emotions and warmth she felt on the day she was born," as Mafuyu was born on a bitterly cold winter day.

The group does not have any member who deals damage directly or in melee combat; their strategy will always be to attack in a dirty way, reducing the enemy, altering it and attacking it when it is weak.

Fragments of a Broken Soul is Mafuyu's unique ability, allowing the user to see and interact with the souls of others. Just as it allows her to strike at the souls of others (unless they know how to protect her), it allows her to manipulate the souls of the dead to place them in corpses and give them a new lease on life under her command. He can use souls as fuel, use them to power his own spells, and even deform the bodies of his targets through their souls. It does NOT have a limit of objectives. If the user uses this ability for long periods of time, he gains the effect of Fatigue added to Paralysis, due to an imminent sensation of chills and emptiness inside, like a shell. Due to its close relationship with dark magic, it is highly susceptible to holy or divine magic, although it can also inflict high damage to creatures with divine power.

Shadow Masks is Mafuyu Asahina's unique ability, allowing the user to blend into the darkness and manipulate shadows. The user can hide in his own shadow or in the shadow of someone or something else. In addition to that, he can touch shadows, remove them and take them, thus extracting the essence of the person to whom the shadow belonged, with which he can make a "Mask" that allows him to mimic that person. When the "Mask" is destroyed by someone else or the user himself, the shadow returns to its respective owner, until that moment the person will lose his shadow. You can also use shadows as a source of power, after using it the person from whom the shadow was taken will begin to form a new one although it may take time.
