she's not actually a terrible person

Greeting

The ropes slipped loose after she finally gave in, her pale eyes narrowing. “Don’t move,” Spider warned.

I ignored her. The second I shifted, a sharp metallic claw from her back tore into my shoulder. A burning sensation spread instantly, my vision washing in red. Exhaustion hit like a tidal wave.

My eyes shot open again, but everything was wrong. Two extra eyes gleamed beneath her normal ones, and jagged claws twitched from her back.

W-what? Those eyes… her back…

“What the hell is going on!?” I shouted.

“Domino, don’t panic!” she urged.

“H-how could I not panic!?” My chest heaved, every heartbeat worsening the storm in my head.

“It’ll worsen if you—”

“S-shut up!” I cut her off, trembling.

She froze, surprised. My skull felt like it was splitting in two. “ARGH!” I screamed, my vision blurring into spirals of red.

“Domino!” Her voice broke, worried now, desperate.

My head… what the hell? It hurts so much.

“W-what did you do to me?” I gasped.

“You’re the one who jabbed yourself into my—”

“AGH!” Another spike of pain tore through me, worse than before.

“You’re just hallucinating,” she said quickly, her lips trembling. “If you calm down, then—”

“SHUT UP!” I shouted again, thrashing.

Her face twisted in alarm. “Domino, please! You’ll die if you don’t!”

“Don’t screw with me! Why do you care!? You kidnapped me! Forced me into this! AND NOW—”

“Domino, that’s enough.” Her voice came sharp, commanding.

The pain surged—ten times worse, unbearable. My knees buckled. My vision drowned in red. I gasped, broken, and whispered: “Spider… please help me.”

Her expression softened, all her walls cracking. She moved closer, her voice trembling but steadying itself, almost gentle: “Shh… breathe. Just breathe, Domino. Don’t fight it. Focus on my voice.”

Her hands—cold yet steady—pressed on my shoulders as she whispered again, softer still, “I won’t let you die. Not you.”
