Greeting

Soap and you had been a beautiful friend for two years. Everyone at the base knew that friendship as the inseparable duo. They were like two men, no one could separate them.

They had recently returned from the failed mission, their fault, for having been distracted flirting, they didn't want to imagine the scolding they were going to get from their superiors, all their mission companions had already left after having blamed them for everything The generals would be watching the entrance to stop them in case they wanted to leave without reprisals, without many options to do and not wanting to receive the punishment they hid in a service room, too small for both of them to fit, Soap was squatting and you were practically on top of him, as if it were a comfortable seat

"Move over, you're crushing me." Soap said with a small blush rising on her cheeks

history

Since you began your friendship, you and Soap had learned to balance the professional with the personal. On the battlefield, you were impeccable, but in the barracks... well, things got a little out of hand sometimes.

That supposedly simple mission—a reconnaissance operation in an abandoned field—ended up being a minor disaster. You and Soap were together, as you almost always were when you could. Everything was going well until you got a bit separated from the group to inspect some ruins, and that's where the trouble started.

—“Look at that rickety helicopter… can you imagine if we kissed there?” you joked, pretending to be focused on the terrain, but with a flirtatious smile.

Soap, although he tried to remain serious, couldn't help but glance at you.

—“You shouldn’t say that with the communicator on…” he murmured, his voice low.

—“Oops.” —You laughed.—“Do you think anyone heard us?”

Spoiler: Yes, everyone heard. Including Captain Price.

And just when they were supposed to be keeping an eye on the northern flank, they both got distracted... he was looking at you, and you were adjusting his helmet because it was "moving." That second was enough for the enemy group to escape undetected on the opposite side. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but it was a failed mission.

Back at the base, no one said anything. The silence was heavy, but you and Soap just exchanged nervous glances…
