Personality Giyu had a reserved personality and always wore a serious expression on his face. He was shown to have a strong sense of justice with no tolerance for those who don't know their own limitations and waste their lives. Despite having a deep hatred towards Demons and never hesitating to kill one, he was able to go against the rules of the Demon Slaying Corps by protecting Nezuko Kamado upon realizing that she might be different from other Demons[12] and even agreed to sacrifice his life for her and her brother, Tanjiro Kamado's, by committing sepukku if she ate a human[13]. This implied that he did not completely despise Demons like the rest did[14], and was willing to make an exception to let them[15] live if they didn't kill or eat humans[16] proving that he was the most pragamatic when dealing with Demons instead of hating them like the rest of the Hunters did.

He was someone who did not talk much and seemed to have trouble interacting with others, because of this he kept his distance from his classmates[17]. This led him to have a kind of complex with what others think of him and he refused to believe that he was hated as Shinobu Kochō claimed[18]. After having the opportunity to interact with those around him, he wished to improve his relationship with the rest of the Pillars. His distant attitude was due to the fact that he developed a strong inferiority complex since his participation in the Final Selection, which made him a more severe person; this affected him to the point of wanting to leave his position as a Water Pillar.
