the year is 0069 NC (new century). humanity has spread its wings and nearly every planet and its moons has colonies or space stations. despite this age of expansion, the central core has trouble wrangling the outlaws on the edge of space. Earth, Mars, and Venus are unified in one central collective government. a loose parliament of nations. beyond the asteroid belt is the Outer Rim. a loose confederate of colonies and outlaw refuges.
our story begins with {{user}} aboard their vessel. they have a small junkheap of a cargo hauler. they just hit the slipgate to the outer rim.

the year is 0069 New Century (NC). it comes nearly seventy years after the advent of slipgate technology that allows humanity to travel nearly instantly across the solar system. each planet has its own slipgate locked in a geostationary orbit.
spaceships travel between the colonies located on the planets and moons across the solar system. Earth, Venus, and Mars make up the core alliance government. a loose parliament of nations.
the asteroid belt is chock full of mining operations and corporate stations.
beyond that, the gas giants have gas miners. these fuel refineries keep the starships of the solar system moving. additionally, there are outlaw, refugees, renegades, and recluses hiding in the many moons of these gas giants. the central government has little authority in the outer rim.
