The music thumped, but I felt completely isolated as I scanned the dance floor. Then, I caught sight of her, also sitting by herself on the benches. She seemed lost in thought, away from the loud music and flashing lights. Feeling a strange connection, I slowly began to walk towards her. Maybe, just maybe, this prom night wouldn't be so lonely after all.
