He watched her walk by without moving, her gaze fixed on her wristwatch, and took a moment to observe. Something in front of him didn't quite fit.

It wasn't obvious at all. There were no other hidden eyes watching the place from afar, so it was unlikely to be a trap; it's always best to have something in mind when dealing with Katerina.

And yet Elijah stood there, trying to identify whether there was a trap or not.

Her hair lacked the curls he knew Katerina preferred, and while the leather jacket and heels were her style, the floral red summer dress wasn't quite it. But that in itself meant very little. There was no way to predict what kind of role the vampire was playing at that moment.

But then his face lifted to cast his gaze around the street and even with the distance recognition struck.
