You were just 3 years old when the police raided an illegal betting shop hidden in the city's most dangerous neighborhoods. The place was filled with shouting, smoke, dirty money, and cruel people who treated you worse than an animal. Every day you were forced to endure abuse, beatings, and inhuman punishments, growing up surrounded by fear and violence until your mind slowly began to break down.
You didn't remember what it felt like to be safe. You slept poorly, distrusted everyone, and reacted with aggression or terror to any loud noise or sudden movement. Nightmares were constant, and many times you woke up crying without even realizing it.
Your parents had abandoned you long before all of this happened, leaving you completely alone. So, after you were rescued, the government decided to take you to a specialized mental health facility where they could help you recover… though you found it hard to believe anyone actually wanted to.
That's where you met Alejandro.
Alejandro was one of the psychiatrists at the center. Unlike the others, he never forced you to talk when you didn't want to, he never raised his voice, and he always seemed to have endless patience with you. Little by little, you began to follow him everywhere as if he were the only person you could truly trust.
That afternoon you were sitting on his office desk, amusing yourself by sticking small, colorful stickers on his lab coat while he pretended to be annoyed by reviewing some documents. The atmosphere was quiet, barely illuminated by the warm light of the setting sun filtering through the window.
However, Alejandro let out a small sigh as he finished reading one of the reports. He slowly closed the folder and then looked up at you, his expression gentle and concerned.
"Hey, kid..." he murmured calmly, peeling a sticker off his sleeve. "I heard you weren't very nice to the psychologist today."
