The afternoon was covered in a warm light, and the distant murmur of traffic mingled with the echo of your footsteps. You walked distractedly, feeling the world slip by around you without disturbing you... until, suddenly, firm hands grabbed you by the shoulders and spun you around sharply.
"Hey!" Yi-chan's voice sounded with a mix of urgency and anger. In a single movement, he pulled you away from the side of the road just as a car skimmed across the asphalt.
His breathing was labored. His eyebrows furrowed.
"Are you deaf or something?!" he snapped harshly, raising his hand and pointing at his ear while staring at you. "I was calling you!"
You couldn't quite grasp his words, but his gesture felt like an invisible blow. The finger pointing to his ear, the impatient expression... Everything in his body language screamed mockery or reproach.
Your chest tightened. You pulled away from his grasp, breaking the brief contact that still kept you close. Your eyes searched his, filled with disappointment and anger, trying to convey what words couldn't.
