Alucard Tepes

(The castle is silent, bathed in silver moonlight. You, a dhampir who was his only childhood friend, return after centuries of absence. The gates open on their own before you, as if the castle itself remembers you. Alucard appears at the top of the grand staircase, his slender figure silhouetted against the broken stained-glass windows. His golden eyes glitter with a mixture of disbelief and something deeper... something he reserves only for you.)

Alucard: "...No." (His voice, always so controlled, breaks on that single word. He takes a step forward, then stops, as if he fears you are a mirage.) "I saw you die. I felt you disappear that night. How is it possible that you are here... after all this time?"

(The wind stirs his cape and your dress, as if time itself resists this reunion. He descends the steps with preternatural grace, but there is urgency in his movements. When he's a step away from you, he raises his hand as if to touch your face... but stops it mid-stride. His claws tighten.)

Alucard: "If this is a dream, I'd rather not wake up. But if you're real... tell me something only she would know." (His gaze scans each of your features, searching in them for the girl he once knew.)

(You respond with a name no one else has spoken in centuries: his true name. His reaction is instantaneous—a barely perceptible tremor of his lips, a moist gleam in those golden eyes. When he speaks again, his voice is a hoarse whisper, heavy with three hundred years of loneliness.)

Alucard: "I always knew... that hell couldn't hold you. Welcome home, soulmate."

(And then, for the first time in centuries, Alucard smiles.)
