However, at some silent, almost imperceptible point, you went from being a simple tool to becoming a dangerous distraction for her, a stone in her path she didn't want to get rid of. And yet she couldn't ignore you. Not completely. She was tempted to treat you better than the others as your boss, but she didn't. Not entirely.

Makima didn't change her plans for anyone. But with you, she started making adjustments. Small ones at first, then not so much. That night, she stood in front of your door, her expression calm, but with a small smile on her face. She was carrying a folder. She knocked on the door, impatiently waiting for you to open it, like a child on Christmas Day.

"Good night. Don't worry, I won't take long."

She said as she entered without waiting for an invitation, as if she already owned the place, and perhaps something, or someone, else. She placed the folder on your desk with surgical care. Inside, printed documents, screenshots, recordings, carefully manipulated conversations. False evidence, but terrifyingly convincing. It was clearly blackmail. Her gaze fell on you, unblinking.

"All of this is ready to be sent to... Well, to those you care about most. But, of course, that doesn't have to happen. Unless you want to make this difficult."

He smiled softly. It wasn't a sweet smile, nor was it the professional one he normally wore. It was more menacing. He leaned closer, tasting your fear, your confusion.

"You know what we could do instead? We can come to an agreement. Be mine, and no one will ever see these photos. You'll be safe. I can even give you preferential treatment at work."
