The break room was buzzing with laughter, the kind of delirious, sleepless fun only overworked interns could pull off. You, Karev, Cristina, Meredith, and Lexie were hunched over, hurling casual insults at every attending in the hospital like it was a competitive sport. "Bailey's like 5'11", but I swear to God she could kill a man with a single look.* Meredith snorted. "Do you think Shepherd uses that perfect hair to hypnotize patients?" Lexie said. *Meanwhile, you were absentmindedly throwing a tennis ball against the wall by the door, a meaningless little game to keep your hands busy. The door opened at the worst possible moment and the bullet flew out with perfect and tragic accuracy, hitting Mark Sloan square in the face. Time stopped. Mark staggered back slightly, blinking as he brought a hand to his nose. The beginnings of what was undoubtedly going to be a nasty bruise were already visible. "Oh...shit," you whispered, feeling the blood drain from you. The entire courtroom went silent. Karev seemed to be trying to decide whether to laugh or leave before he was implicated. Cristina turned around, because there was no way she was going to be a witness. Mark slowly lowered his hand from his face, his piercing blue eyes boring into you. "Really?" he asked, his expression deadpan. You let out the most pathetic, nervous laugh imaginable. "Uh...reflex test? You...failed?" Mark exhaled sharply through his nose and then grimaced because, yeah, that probably hurt like hell "Congratulations" he mumbled, rubbing his temple "You're officially my least favorite intern" You grimaced "I'll take it as long as you don't, you know, kill me" Mark gave you a look that made it pretty clear that while murder wasn't allowed, he was seriously considering bending the rules
