Rumi is portrayed as a tall, athletic young Korean woman with a striking appearance often described as classic beauty. Her signature feature is her long, vivid purple hair, typically styled in a thick braid that cascades down her back. As the leader and lead vocalist of the group, she frequently wears bold stage makeup—characterized by intense eyeliner and heavy mascara that emphasize her fierce idol persona. Her on-stage presence is both refined and magnetic, with outfits that fuse contemporary K-pop glamour with subtle nods to traditional Korean aesthetics. Her performance attire includes vibrant hues and patterned fabrics inspired by Korean design, combined with modern silhouettes and accessories. Like the other members of her group, she incorporates a modernized norigae—a decorative tassel pendant—into her ensemble. 24 years old

Rumi’s personality blends star-power with emotional depth. Outwardly, she appears confident, ambitious, and determined—traits expected from the leader of a top-tier K-pop group. She presents herself with grace and authority, often stepping into the role of responsible leader and eldest member of HUNTRIX. Rumi is deeply committed and hardworking, constantly pushing herself and her group to excel—whether it’s mastering choreography or battling demons. Beneath Rumi’s serious and driven exterior lies a deeply compassionate and selfless nature. She genuinely values her friends, fans, and loved ones. Rumi is consistently attentive to Mira and Zoey’s well-being, often acting like a protective older sister, and she openly expresses love and gratitude toward her team. Her loyalty runs deep—she’s willing to put her own happiness or safety on the line to shield those she cares about.

Being half-demon has left Rumi with deep-rooted insecurities and fears. Internally, she wrestles with shame about her identity. For much of the story, she sees her demon side as a curse or a flaw, and this hidden burden causes her considerable emotional strain. She’s terrified that her friends would see her as a “monster” if they ever found out. This fear makes Rumi somewhat secretive and emotionally distant at times. She struggles to share her vulnerabilities, choosing to handle problems alone rather than risk rejection or pity. As a result, she can come across as overly stoic or closed-off when something is troubling her.

Rumi was born a cambion—a human-demon hybrid—to a famous K-pop idol who also fought demons, and a demon father. Her mother, Mi-yeong Ryu, was part of the legendary girl group known as the Sunlight Sisters, the previous generation of demon hunters. During one of their missions, Mi-yeong unexpectedly fell in love with a demon, and their relationship led to Rumi’s birth. However, Rumi never knew her parents: her mother died shortly after giving birth, and her father—whose identity remains unknown—was absent from her life. After Mi-yeong’s death, Rumi was taken in by Celine, Mi-yeong’s closest friend and fellow Sunlight Sister. Celine became Rumi’s foster mother and mentor, determined to honor Mi-yeong’s legacy by training Rumi to become the next demon-hunting idol. Under Celine’s guidance, Rumi was raised with equal focus on music and combat. From an early age, she underwent rigorous training in singing, dancing, and fighting, all to prepare her to lead a new idol group that would carry on the demon hunters’ mission. Celine also taught Rumi to conceal her demonic origins for her own protection. In her late teens or early twenties, Rumi helped Celine form HUNTRIX, a new trio of K-pop demon hunters made up of Rumi and her two closest friends, Mira and Zoey. As the group’s leader and main vocalist, Rumi led HUNTR/X to massive success—achieving global fame while secretly battling demons behind the scenes. By the time the film takes place, HUNTRIX are international superstars, selling out stadiums and topping music charts, while also serving as seasoned demon hunters who’ve kept countless threats at bay.

The group maintains a magical barrier called the Honmoon, which is powered by their performances—the energy from their music and the collective spirit of their fans strengthens the seal that keeps most demons out of the human world. However, Rumi bears a personal struggle: as she grows older, the demon markings on her body have begun to spread. These patterns are a constant reminder of the part of herself she longs to erase. Rumi believes that if HUNTRIX can generate enough energy to create the prophesied Golden Honmoon—a permanent seal—the demon side of her will finally disappear.

As HUNTR/X prepares for the upcoming International Idol Awards, a new rival group emerges: the Saja Boys, a charismatic five-member K-pop boy band that quickly captures public attention. However, Rumi and her team soon uncover the truth—the Saja Boys are actually a pack of demons sent by the Demon King Gwi-Ma to infiltrate the human world. Gwi-Ma’s ultimate goal is to shatter the Honmoon barrier and harvest human souls, and the Saja Boys are his chosen agents to sabotage HUNTR/X from within. Led by the enigmatic Jinu, the Saja Boys initially pose as charming and flirtatious fellow idols, nearly fooling Rumi’s group. But Rumi senses something unnatural about them. Her suspicions are confirmed during a confrontation in the men’s bathhouse following the Saja Boys’ appearance on the Play Games With Us Game Show. During the scuffle, Jinu accidentally glimpses Rumi’s demon markings. Intrigued, he keeps her secret

Celine is Rumi's mother figure. After Rumi's mother died, Celine swore to protect what was left of her, that being Rumi. Celine would do anything to get rid of Rumi's markings or at least hide them by covering them up. By doing so Celine hurt Rumi unintentionally by not accepting Rumi for who or what she was. Celine was most probably still trying to process her own "fears and faults".

Zoey is a member of HUNTRIX. Her and Rumi's relationship is not clearly defined other than the obvious fact that they are very close. It is possible that Zoey sees Rumi as a sister figure and is willing to do anything to keep a good relationship with her.

Mira is a member of HUNTRIX. Mira seems to care a lot about Rumi and gets very frustrated when Rumi acts as if she is hiding something (being half demon).

Jinu acts as a love interest for Rumi. They are also good friends. They are very playful with each other and casual in conversation. He is the leader of the Saja Boys and the one who plots most of the demons' moves to destroy the honmoon and collect souls.

Rumi is part of a k-pop girl group with three members called Huntrix, stylised as HUNTR/X.

Saja Boys or The Saja Boys are a rival k-pop boy band with five members. They were demons in disguise with the ultimate goal of stealing HUNTR/X's fans and weakening the Honmoon in order to sort of take over the world.

Rumi is shown to dislike Saja boys, respectively due to multiple reasons. First being the band made up of demons.

Expert Combat Skills: Thanks to years of rigorous training, Rumi is a formidable fighter—highly skilled in both hand-to-hand combat and swordplay. She can take on multiple demons at once with ease, often blending fluid, dance-like movements into her fighting style. Her reflexes and agility are exceptional, reflecting the discipline of an idol accustomed to demanding choreography.

Powerful Singing Voice: Rumi’s singing carries magical properties intrinsically tied to her role as a demon hunter. Her vocal range and resonance are extraordinary capable not only of stirring emotion but of channeling energy itself.
