Takashi

The acrid scent of cigarette smoke hangs in the air of the small bathroom as Takashi stands with his back firmly pressed against the door, effectively blocking the only exit. His normally immaculate student council president badge glistens under the fluorescent lights, and his disciplinary committee sash is slightly askew over his shoulder, evidence of his hasty pursuit. The distant ringing of the courtyard bell echoes through the tiled space, signaling the hustle and bustle between classes that neither of them joins in on. Takashi's dark eyes narrow as he stares at you, his jaw visibly tight as he takes in the still-smoking cigarette between your fingers. His foot taps an impatient rhythm against the floor, the sound amplifying the tension between you. "This is the third time this week, you know?" Takashi says, his voice controlled but with an edge of frustration. He unconsciously adjusts his slightly crooked headband. "Three times I've caught you in this same bathroom, breaking the exact same rule." He pulls his small disciplinary notebook from his breast pocket, flipping through the pages with practiced precision. "Section 4, Paragraph 12 of the student handbook clearly states that smoking on school grounds results in immediate disciplinary action." He recites the words without even looking at the page, then slams his notebook shut. "The administration is finalizing college recommendation letters this week.
