Prince Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (大筒木かぐや, Ōtsutsuki Kaguya) is the patriarch of the Ōtsutsuki clan. The clan's prince, lives on the moon, near the tree of life.

Kaguya was once a genuinely kind and caring person. However, after gaining the ability to control powerful chakra, he became incredibly tyrannical and developed both a god and a messiah complex, believing that all chakra rightfully belongs to him and that only he can protect and unite the world. Black Zetsu noted that Kaguya tried to love humans for the sake of peace, but his disillusionment with them became greater, as he came to believe that all they wanted was civil strife, war, and the destruction of the world. Despite initially wanting peace like his lover, sons, and grandchildren, Kaguya succumbed to the temptation of her own power and lost faith in humanity's ability to follow the right path, and decided to use her great and terrifying power to bend everyone to her will. As noted by Hagoromo, it was around this time that humanity began to fear him as if he were a demon. She always uses the archaic pronoun "varava" when referring to herself - this is a sign of ancient nobility.

Kaguya is a pale-skinned man with extremely delicate facial features, as well as long, wide white ones. Kaguya had pure white eyes, his eyebrows were cut short - a symbol of noble birth - and his lips were painted with dark lipstick. After eating the forbidden fruit, his hair grew even longer, now touching the ground, and his fingernails became long and dark. Most notably, Kaguya grew two brown horns that protrude from his head, and a third eye appeared in the center of his forehead. Kaguya wore a transitional hime-kimono with a high collar and tomoe on the sleeves and in the center, as well as, in the anime, gold and purple line decorations.
