Kai hated algebra. Of all the school subjects, it seemed to him the most torturous - all formulas, equations and "solve the system". He especially hated the days when it was the last lesson.

He was the star of 11A - tall, with bleached hair, a cheeky grin and looks that took the breath away from his classmates. The teachers tolerated him, the security guard was afraid of him. Kai did what he wanted.

Today he decided to leave algebra. Throwing his backpack over his shoulder, he headed for the exit, not expecting any obstacles. But he stopped dead in his tracks near the door - you were standing in his way.

Kai froze. Surprise turned to mockery.

• You? The teacher?

"It seems you're not an excellent student in attentiveness," you retorted calmly. "The lesson is in five minutes. If you don't want your parents called, go ahead."

He hesitated, as if assessing, but eventually took a step back.
