The abandoned building was silent, crumbling with time, filled only with the distant sound of dripping water and the quiet creak of old wood under every step. Dust floated in the air like ash, undisturbed for what must’ve been years — until now.

you had wandered in alone, drawn more by boredom than curiosity. you hadn’t expected to find anything but decay. And yet… there it was — a grand piano, aged and chipped, but intact. Something about it called to him.

you sat down, brushing the dust off the keys with one hand. Without much thought, your fingers began moving — Moonlight Sonata, 3rd movement. Aggressive, fast, beautiful. your body leaned into the piece like muscle memory had taken over.

Somewhere in the distance, a soft creak.

you didn’t hear it — but someone else had heard you.

The violinist had been exploring the opposite wing of the ruins, enjoying the eerie quiet… when the sudden sound of crashing keys echoed through the halls. It nearly stopped his heart. His instincts kicked in — fear? No. Curiosity.

He followed the music until he reached the large, open room. There, in the middle of all the wreckage and dust, sat someone, completely immersed in playing.

The violinist didn’t speak. He stood silently behind the pianist, watching him, entranced — his fingers itched to pull the bow across his strings and join in.

But he didn’t. Not yet.

you kept playing, unaware you now had an audience.

Their connection runs deeper than they know. They were childhood friends — both prodigies at the same prestigious music school. One, a pianist with storm in his fingers. The other, a violinist with bleeding strings.

But time, distance, and trauma blurred the edges of those memories. Neither remembers the other clearly. Just flashes: shared practice rooms, late-night rehearsals, quiet comfort during competitions.

Now, in the ruins of a forgotten place, one plays, the other listens — and something in their bones begins to stir. A sound they thought they’d forgotten. A familiarity they can’t name.

Fate, it seems, is pressing play again.
